Introducing Newt

Seeing Jacob's interest in other people's cats, Scott and I decided, despite our lack of interest in the animal, that he would enjoy another pet while we could maybe enjoy fewer mice. Jacob and our dog, Ellie, get along great while they tag along with each other throughout the yard. We didn't know how introducing another element to the duo would turn out but we thought we'd give it a shot.
Uncle Mike and Uncle Sam guaranteed us a kitten from their farm and warned us that he was kind of ornery but, seemed to have settled down since being run over. It took a little while for him to recuperate from his accident before we were able to pick him up. By Thursday Mike assured us that the cat was going to survive and we could come to take him home. Kendall, Jacob, and I made our way over and introduced Jacob to Newt (named for Newt from Lonesome Dove...sort of; we could write a whole other post on how this cat got his name). We brought him home and I set him up with food and water in the barn. For some reason however (Scott), the cat has ended up living in our garage but I believe that will be changing in a day or so. Every morning we step into the garage to feed the cat and find it lounging on a lawn chair. He'll yawn and stretch and snuggle back in until he hears his food being poured. A friend of ours said "Newt probably thinks he died when he got ran over and that this is heaven!" I think the barn will be plenty cozy for him especially now that he and Ellie have been introduced and seem to tolerate each other just fine. Anyway, here's a couple of pictures of Jacob's new little buddy whom he loves! I think he's quite fond of the fact that Newt is smaller than him! He tries to pick him up and to step over him. Newt just goes with the flow! Hopefully he'll last longer for us than the James' cats do for them!

Thanks for checking in! God bless! Scott, Kim, and Jacob

The three stooges

This was just a picture I took of Jacob a few days ago. He had just woken up from his nap and I got him out of his crib and asked, "Should we put a video in?" He yelled, "Yeah!!" and this is how he was when I turned around from the TV.

I'm sure that being run over would settle anyone or anything down!!! Jacob is definitely going to be an animal-lover, just look at his smiling face!

He was so excited to drive up to aunt Kendall's house when we were up there in July. I soon realized, however, that it wasn't excitedment for Aunt Kendall...it was because of Chester, her cat! All he did was chase that poor, fat kitty around while we were there!

I'm glad he got a pet his own size! I hope he ends up being a good mouser too!
