After a sleepless night, we arrived at the hospital at 5:00 am to get induced. Thankfully, it only took a little over twelve hours (about ten in labor) for Jacob Arthur to arrive! He was content with where he had been for the past thirty-eight weeks and was not in any hurry to greet us! Jacob let us know how he felt about being out in the real world when he was born...he screamed for four minutes! The nurses were impressed!
Dr. Armstrong predicted he would be a big baby and the prior week's ultrasound estimated his weight at 8 lbs. 6 oz. We're thankful Dr. Armstrong didn't make us wait until our due date to deliver an even bigger baby!!
Jacob was Mom's Grandpa Rankin's middle name and Arthur was Dad's Great Uncle's name.
Can you believe it?! A boy! What a new experience for the Rankin family! It's so different to see the color blue and sports gear on everything instead of the color pink and flowers! Jacob's cousin Anna got her wish! She wanted a boy and Emma wanted a girl! Maybe next time, Emma!
