One whole month has gone by since we met Jacob Arthur for the first time. We've been reflecting on how things have changed in our lives and how much Jacob has changed also.
A Few of Jacob's Achievements This Month:
- More hair
- Takes more four hour naps at night than three hour naps
- First bottle
- Sucks on pacifier (he still can't decide which brand he likes best though)
- Wore first outfit besides a sleeper
- Has figured out how to get Mommy to let him sleep in the bed with her (against Daddy's wishes)
- Grunts all the time
- Holds his head up through most of a burping session
- Let everybody hear a screech in church
- Outgrew three sleepers
- Used three boxes of wipes and all the Newborn diapers Mommy and Daddy had stocked up
- Stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Anderson for a few hours while Mommy ran errands
- Fell asleep and took a nap in his swing
- Fell back asleep after waking and crying for a few minutes
- Has grown a lot (Mommy hopes to get him weighed pretty soon)
A Few of Mommy and Daddy's Achievements This Month:
- Sleep for about four hours total at night
- Have figured out it's easier to stay up until two instead of finally getting to sleep at one and then get woken up at two by a hungry baby
- Mommy has figured out how to get Jacob to sleep at three in the morning...letting him snuggle up to her in bed (against Daddy's wishes)
- Have kept up with the laundry, dishes, and feeding ourselves too
- Got ready for church in less than three hours yesterday
- Mommy and Jacob have ventured to town on their own
- Daddy has made supper most nights....and most dinners too
- Have learned that waking up whimpering does not mean that Jacob needs something immediately
- Have learned that the running water while Mommy takes a bath is soothing...to Jacob
- Have learned the swing fits in the bathroom conveniently while Mommy takes a bath (It's tight, but it fits...Daddy makes it fit!)
- Have learned it is always best to have the new diaper open and ready to slide into place
- Have learned that it is possible to get very wet while giving a newborn boy a bath...and we don't mean by him splashing either
- Have made it through the first month of having a newborn without going completely crazy!
Keep checking in on Jacob! We enjoy sharing our new adventure and look forward to hearing from all of you!
Happy Belated Birthday Great Grandma Budke!!

He has grown up so much. Doesn't it make you sad that the first month is over already? I cannot wait to hold him. I love his hair - it reminds me of Kendall when she was a baby!
Love you all!
Aunt Karen
