What a Week!

It's been a week since we've updated the blog and for that we apologize. However, it was quite a week for the three of us! Tuesday started the chaos with Jacob reminding us of what life was like the first week he was home. We could not make him happy. He screamed while he was eating, after he ate, in the middle of a nap, and what seemed every minute he was awake. We could not lie him down or he would let out a screech like no other. Needless to say, this kept Mommy extremely tied down and sent Daddy searching for things to do outside of the house! We knew he wasn't feeling well, but could not pinpoint what it was exactly. Whatever it was, it was making all of us incredibly uncomfortable. Thursday night, Jacob surprised us and finally started eating a little more than what he had been the past few days but still was hardly content with anything. Phone call after phone call were made to family members in hopes somebody could figure this kid out! Finally, Friday morning we decided to go ahead and take him to the doctor before the weekend began! At 10:30 in the morning we scurried into town with Jacob settling down in his car seat just as we walked into the clinic. The nurse weighed him at 11 lbs. 8 oz. which was pleasing but, the whimpers were starting so Daddy hurried to sweep him up and headed to the exam room. The doctor entered soon after and started asking about Jacob's symptoms which Mommy informed her consisted mostly of screaming and screaming and not eating as much as normal. The doctor had Daddy lie Jacob down on the table in order to examine him. We looked at each other as we both were anticipating the screams, but instead, our sweet, sweet, innocent boy looked at the doctor, kicked his legs, smiled, and filled our ears with coo after coo!! He wouldn't stop!! She commented on how happy and attentive he was!! This was the first time he had been awake and not screaming for three days! The doctor checked him over and told us that whatever it was must be out of his system because he looked perfectly fine. Talk about feeling like a couple of fooled parents! After the check-up, Jacob was back to his normal routine for the night which was a complete comfort to all three of us.

Saturday morning Daddy left to help with Nordlund's cattle sale as Jacob and Mommy got packed up for a trip to Jacob's first babysitter besides Grandma and Grandpa Anderson. Sherry Rettmann agreed...no, more like asked, to watch Jacob so that Mommy could go to the cattle sale. Laura Lindgren even showed up at Sherry's to help! Jacob was wonderful for them all morning and a little pistol for Mommy and Daddy that night (Mommy forgot that she'd eaten chili and probably should have thrown that milk out)! Nothing a little gas reflief medicine couldn't fix for Jacob!!

Anyway, after that long week, we spent all day Sunday recovering and still asking ourselves, of course, "What was wrong with him?" I guess we'll never know!

So, here we are on Monday, getting back to our routine which seems to come and go every other week or so. But, at least it's a routine, right!
That's what we've been busy with for the past week. We didn't get many pictures taken, but here's a couple of Jacob on Sherry's lap! She was changing his clothes as Laura, Jenell, and Mommy watched and were all so amused at how much Jacob LOVES to be naked!!
